by Matthias Jacob Schleiden (1804 - 1881), as Ernst

Gen Morgen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Der Morgen frisch und sonniglich
Steigt aus dem Osten hell empor;
An jene Gegend mahnt er mich.
Die sich mein Lieb erkor.

Vom Osten quillt der Sonne Schein,
Im Osten wohnt mein süßes Lieb,
Der Ost' schließt alles Schöne ein,
Der Westen nur ist trüb.

Der Postillon bläst lustig drein,
Belebt von frischer Morgenluft.
Geselle, lass' das Klagen sein,
Gen Ost das Posthorn ruft.
