by (Karl) Wilhelm Osterwald (1820 - 1887)

Trinkspruch
Language: German (Deutsch)
Schlagen die Flammen heller zusammen
Hier in der Freude gefülltem Pokal,
Denken wir gerne freundlicher Sterne,
Freunde, der Frauen, beim fröhlichen Mahl,

Die uns ins Leben wonniglich weben
Blumen der Liebe mit ewigem Glanz,
Wenn wir in Treuen ihrer uns freuen,
Immer erneuen sie selber den Kranz.

Seliger Frieden wird uns beschieden
Hold durch die Holden im traulichen Haus,
Aber vom Heerde über die Erde
Wallet er weiter zur Menschheit hinaus.

Confirmed with Gedichte von Wilhelm Osterwald, Dritte umgearbeitete und vermehrte Auflage, Leipzig, Verlag von F. G. C. Leuckart (Constantin Sander), 1873, page 121.
