by Thomas Moore (1779 - 1852)
Translation by Karl Alfred Melin (1849 - 1919)

Det komma skall en sorgens tid
Language: Swedish (Svenska)  after the English
Det komma skall en sorgestund
för den, som fladdrat kring
i ungdomsvårens rosenlund
i lek bland blommors ring.
Det är, när först han lämna må
en dröm så ljuv, så klar;
o, då är tid att dö, ty då
har livet intet kvar.

När sol går ned i söderns land,
är allt ett mörker blott;
så skulle brista livets band,
när kärleken förgått,
ej liksom dagen vid sin död
i norden dröja än
i lämningen utav en glöd,
som slocknat längese'n.
