Maanlicht en toover van het sterren - spelen
en bosch -aromen, dwaallicht op de paden,
gloeibout, dat glanst en dat gewuif van waden
en melodieën als van verre veêlen .

Vreemd leven is in ' t bosch van tikken , fluist'ren ,
van zacht verwaaien wat de blaêren zeien,
en waar naaldboomen staan in rechte rijen
klinkt ijl - fijn suizen helder bij het duist'ren .

Dat groen- goud ginder is dat elfenhaar,
en fonkʼlen in het maanlicht de juweelen,
nu droomen - reidans heerlijk wordt gevierd ?

Wat is dat schoon, de maan werd vol en klaar,
' t bosch trilt van zang door ' t wondervolle spelen
van rei, die licht langs hooge stammen zwiert.
