by Carl August Große (1768 - 1847)

Geburtstagslied
Language: German (Deutsch)
Aus der Wolken Purpurmeere
Taucht die Sonne mild herauf.
So rief sie mit Lebensstrahle
Einst dich zu dem Erdenlauf.

Und sie sah das Kindlein weinen,
Sah den Knaben fröhlich blühn,
Jetzt des reifern Mannes Augen,
Dankend auf zum Himmel glühn.

O wie schön an solchem Feste,
Wünschend, sich mit zu erfreu'n.
Möge doch dein ganzes Leben
Schön, wie dieser Morgen, sein.

Confirmed with Universal-Liederbuch. Weltlicher Liederschatz für Deutschlands Gesangfreunde, ed. by J. J. Algier, Reutlingen: Fleischhauer & Spohn, 1841. no. 117, page 67.
