Я не нездужаю, нівроку,
А щось такеє бачить око,
І серце жде чогось. Болить,
Болить, і плаче, і не спить,
Мов негодована дитина.
Лихої, тяжкої години,
Мабуть, ти ждеш? Добра не жди,
Не жди сподіваної волі -
Вона заснула: цар Микола
Її приспав. А щоб збудить
Хиренну волю, треба миром,
Громадою обух сталить,
Та добре вигострить сокиру,
Та й заходиться вже будить!
