by Holger Henrik Herholdt Drachmann (1846 - 1908)

Den høje Hest
Language: Danish (Dansk)
Den høje Hest, den høje Hest,
hvor er den stolt at ride -
med Fjerbarret, med Tressehat,
med Kaarde ved sin Side.

Og alle Broer giver Gny,
hvert Borge-Led opspringer -
og se, Skønjomfru giver Køb,
selv uden Ring paa Finger!

Og hvert et Valdhorn sender ud
Stamherrens Ry saa vide -
den høje Hest, den høje Hest,
hvor var den nem at ride!

Kom, Ydmyghed, Du stille Ven,
og sæt Dig ved min Side;
nu skal vi to i navnløs Krog
tilsammen Dagen stride. -
