by Gustaf Ullman (1881 - 1945)

Gammal bonde
Language: Swedish (Svenska)
Längs ängarne sin tysta rund
den gamle ensam går,
Och daggfriskt grön i kvällens stund
nu åkervidden står.

Han signande kring jorden ser --
han odlat den,
och mot dess späda grönska ler
som mot en trogen vän.

Den unga grödan böljar len
för nattlig bris från haf.
Den gamle följer fältets ren,
djupt lutad mot sin staf.

Man kunde tro han vore blott
en dröm, en spöksyn blid,
som så i seklers vårar gått
vid daggig midnattstid.
