Eisnacht
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG
Wie in Seide ein Königskind
schläft die Erde in lauter Schnee,
blauer Mondscheinzauber spinnt
schimmernd über der See.
Aus den Wassern der Rauhreif steigt,
Büsche und Bäume atmen kaum:
durch die Nacht, die erschauernd schweigt,
schreitet ein glitzernder Traum.

Frosty night
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Like a king's child in silk
The earth sleeps in pure snow,
Blue moonlight magic spins,
Shimmering, over the lake.
From out of the waters the frosty rime rises,
Bushes and trees barely breathe:
Through the night, which falls silent with shuddering,
Strides a glittering dream.
