by Friedrich von Matthisson (1761 - 1831)

An eine Rosenknospe
Language: German (Deutsch)
Schönste Rosenknospe dieser Flur!
Unter Nachtigallgesang entblühe,
Bei des goldnen Maitags leiser Frühe,
Still im Schooße ländlicher Natur.

Sicher, gleich dem Hesperidenhain,
Ruhvoll, wie Arkadiens Gefilde,
[Ein Elysium]1 an Frühlingsmilde,
Müsse dein umschirmtes Gärtchen seyn.

Nur von zarter Nymfen Hand berührt
Prang' empor in keuscher Jugendröthe,
Bis auch dich dem heimatlichen Beete
Edler Blumen [Loos, o Hold',]2 entführt.

Wonne dann, im reinen Götterlicht
Schöner Männlichkeit, dem Erdensohne,
Der, umgrünt von Amors Mirtenkrone,
Dich den Grazien zum Opfer blicht!
