La rouille d'automne envahit les branches
Du grand chêne où vont pencher les ramiers...
Te rappelles-tu les floraisons blanches
Qu'avril fait neiger au front des pommiers ?

Va, les jours d'automne ont aussi leur joie ;
Un dernier parfum des bruyères sort,
Et le cliquetis du feuillage mort
Semble un frôlement de robe de soie.

Et je pense au temps où, chaque matin,
Quand elle partait, chère feuille morte !
Ses jupons ainsi chantaient à ma porte.

Et mon cœur s'emplit du regret lointain
D'avril qui jonchait les bois de pervenches,
Et faisait neiger les floraisons blanches!
