by Johann Baptist Vogl (1818 - 1866)

Ein traulich Liedchen tönet
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ein traulich Liedchen tönet
Mir immerdar im Ohr,
Von einem armen Vöglein,
Das seine Braut verlor.

So einfach ist die Weise
Und doch so süß und zart --
In meinem tiefsten Herzen
Hab' ich sie treu bewahrt.

Der Mund, so es gesungen,
Er war mein einzig Gut, --
Er singt wohl nimmer wieder,
Weil längst im Grab er ruht!

Doch ich muß immer denken
An das, was ich verlor,
Denn dieses alte Liedchen
Klingt immer mir im Ohr!
