by Emanuel von Geibel (1815 - 1884)

Sei getrost, und ob die Stunden
Language: German (Deutsch)
Sei getrost, und ob die Stunden
Rascher Jugend dir verweht!
Hast du doch in dir gefunden,
Was unalternd fortbesteht:
Kannst du ringend doch gestalten,
Was der Geist dir reichlich gibt,
Kannst im Lied die Liebe halten -
Selig ist, wer schafft und liebt.

Nimmer nun des Segels Schwinge
Stell' ich aus ins weite Meer;
Denn gewaltig zieht die Dinge
Frommer Liebeszwang mir her.
Alle Wunder, die ich ferne
Suchte, trägt der Heimat Schoß;
Und so segn' ich meine Sterne,
Und so preis' ich still mein Los.
