Da liegt im Schatten der Linden
 (Sung text for setting by R. von Koeber)
 Matches original text
Language: German (Deutsch)
Da liegt im Schatten der Linden
Einsam das Gotteshaus;
Glockenklang mit den Winden
Zittert in's Land hinaus.

Es sprudeln und plätschern die Bronnen
Wohl um die alte Abtei;
Im Klostergarten die Nonnen
Wandeln zwei um zwei.

Die eine, die mich betrachtet.
Senkt tiefer den Schleier auf's Kleid; . .
Doch tiefer noch umnachtet
Die Seele mir Reu und Leid.

    Set to music by Raphael von Koeber (1848 - 1923), "Da liegt im Schatten der Linden", op. 2 (Drei Lieder für 1 mittlere Singstimme mit Pianoforte) no. 3, published 1883 [ medium voice and piano ], Heidelberg, Guttenberger
