by Heinrich Leuthold (1827 - 1879)

Die Kapelle am Strande
Language: German (Deutsch)
Langsam und kaum vernehmbar theilt
Die wellenlose Fluth der Kiel;
In meiner Seele zittert nach
Der Ton aus einem Saitenspiel.

Horch! dieser sanft gedämpfte Laut,
Der Erd' und Himmel mild versöhnt..
Das Abendläuten ist's, das fern
Von der Kapelle niedertönt.

Bescheiden von dem Felsgrund sieht
Sie über's Meer, so endlos weit; --
So schauet wohl ein fromm Gemüth
Hinüber in die Ewigkeit.
