by Friedrich Heinrich Oser (1820 - 1891)

Am Alpensee
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Soll ich weilen an dem Strande?
Soll ich eilen übern See?
Oder keck vom Felsenrande
Steigen bis zum ewgen Schnee?

Hier so traulich lockt der Schatten,
Dort so leuchtend blitzt die Fluth,
Und so schimmernd ob den Matten
Winkt der Firnen reine Gluth.

Horch! ein Glöcklein hör' ich klingen,
Hin und her die Klänge ziehn:
Höher muß das Herz sich schwingen,
Bis zu Gottes Herzen fliehn!
