by Oscar von Redwitz-Schmölz (1823 - 1891)

Wie brennt sein Aug'
Language: German (Deutsch)
Wie brennt sein Aug'
In keckem Muth!
Die Wange frisch,
Wie Milch und Blut!
Der Reiher nickt
Vom schwarzen Haar;
Wie trägt so stolz
Die Stirne dar
Jung Walcher!

Knapp um den Leib
Das Wamms ihm sitzt,
Des Dolches Heft
Am Sammte blitzt;
Der Falke ruht
Auf seiner Hand,
Die Laute trägt
Am seidnen Band
Jung Walther.

Der Falke schießt
Hoch in die Luft;
Er wirft sich hin
In's Gras voll Duft;
Er sieht ihm nach
Voll Lust und Neid,
Es reißet auf
Sein enges Kleid
Jung Walther.

Er nimmt das Schwert
Vom Mauerrand,
Er fegt es blank
Mit eigner Hand;
Wie schwellt es ihm
Voll Muth die Brust!
Zur Laute greift
Voll Liedeslust
Jung Walther.
