by Georg Bötticher (1849 - 1918)

Rheinfahrt
Language: German (Deutsch)
Wie auf Schwingen das Schifflein flog
über das schäumende Wellengewog'.
Burgen grüßten vom Bergeshang,
aber mein Herz war schwer und bang'!

Schmeichelnd traf mich der Sonne Kuss,
goldig schimmerten Höh'n und Fluss,
ringsum fröhliches Leben klang,
aber mein Herz war schwer und bang'!

Einer Toten hab' ich gedacht,
einer seligen Maiennacht,
eines Mündleins, das mich geküsst
und das nun lang' schon geschlossen ist.
