by Wilhelm Ritter von Hertz, Dr. (1835 - 1902)

Blühende Gräber
Language: German (Deutsch)
Leis verglüht der Tag in den Pappelzweigen,
Glockentöne wiegen den Wald in Schlummer,
Durch des Friedhofs träumende Stille weht's wie
Ewige Sehnsucht.

Sehnsucht eines lange erlosch'nen Lebens,
Sehnsucht alter, lange vergess'ner Liebe,
Ausgelitt'ne Schmerzen, verblühtes Glück aus
Früheren Tagen.

Drang des Lebens, bildender Schöpferodem,
Deines Waltens heilige Nähe fühl' ich,
Fühle dich im Säuseln entschlaf'ner Sehnsucht
Über den Gräbern!

Nicht, Natur, Allmutter, vergiß'st du deiner
Todten Kinder: aus den erstorb'nen Herzen
Steigt der Liebe strahlend empor in tausend
Blumen des Frühlings.

Confirmed with Wilhelm Ritter von Hertz, Gedichte, Hamburg: Hoffnung und Campe, 1859, page 109. Appears in Lyrisches.
