by Martin Anton Niendorf (1826 - 1878)

Das ist so Brauch
Language: German (Deutsch)
  Wie die Nacht den Himmel droben
Finster mit Wolken har umwoben!
Thränen weint er, kalt und naß,
    -- Leichenblaß
    Schaut er jetzt durchs Fensterglas.

  Hast gewiß zu warm geliebet,
Armer Himmel, so tief betrübet,
Drum die Thränen im blauen Aug';
    Das ist so Brauch:
    Wenn man liebt, so weint man auch.

Confirmed with Lieder der Liebe, Berlin: Carl Barthold, 1854, page 44.
