Schlaf' in Frieden, süßes Mädchen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Schlaf' in Frieden, süßes Mädchen,
In der lauen stillen Nacht,
Droben über'm Sternendome
Gottes Vaterauge wacht.

All' das Leid, das du getragen,
Das die Brust mit Schmerz erfüllt,
Mög' im Schlummer dir entschwinden
Durch ein liebes Traumgebild.

Gottes treues, heil'ge Engel
Schweben um dein Lager hier,
Wie mit ihrer lieben Schwester
Flüstern sie im Traum mit dir.

Flüstern wohl von treuer Liebe
Und von schöner, gold'ner Zeit,
Von den glücklich frohen Tagen
Seliger Vergangenheit:

Daß ein schöner Himmelsfrieden
Sich in's wunde Herz ergießt,
Wenn aus lieben, holden Träume
Dich die Morgensonne küßt!
