by Ricarda Octavia Huch (1864 - 1947)

Denn unsre Liebe hat zu heiß geflammt
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  FRE
Denn unsre Liebe hat zu heiß geflammt,
Die wir entrissen alten Göttermächten.
Von Sterblichen verdammt
Schlug sie empor in unterirdschen Nächten.

Sie loderte wie Fackeln überm Grab.
Der Sterne Heer zerschmolz in ihrem Hauch,
Und troff auf sie herab.
So schmolzen schmerzlich unsre Seelen auch.

O Wohlgeruch, o Glut! O Lust und Glanz!
O Qual, nie nah genug, so nah zusammen!
Empfang uns endlich ganz,
Abgrund der Nacht, in deinen Liebesflammen.
