by Georg Christian Dieffenbach (1822 - 1901)

In stiller Nacht
Language: German (Deutsch)
    Stille! Stille! - Stille ist die Nacht!
Alles sich zum Schlafe neiget!
Alles ruhet, Alles schweiget,
Gott im Himmel wacht
In der stillen Nacht.

    Stille! Stille! - Stille nah und fern!
Sternlein an dem Himmel blinken,
Mahnen uns mit stummem Winken:
Liebet Gott den Herrn!
Er ist euch nicht fern!

    Stille! Stille! - Stille heil'ge Ruh!
Engel schweben auf und nieder,
Singen leise Schlummerlieder;
Stille sei auch du,
Schlafe nun in Ruh!

     Stille! Stille! - Stille ist die Nacht!
Und es schweigen alle Sorgen,
Ruhen bis zum neuen Morgen;
Gott hält treue Wacht
In der stillen Nacht!
