by Adolf Böttger (1815 - 1870)

Wer wollte stehn und trauern
Language: German (Deutsch)
Das junge Gras wie glänzt es grün,
Wie blau die Glockenblumen blühn
Im Thal und auf der Halde!
Der Mai, der Mai ist heut erwacht,
Er blickt durchs helle Laub und lacht,
Laut schlägt sein Herz im Walde.

Die Blätter hauchen frischen' Duft,
Durch Maien weht die laue Luft,
Daß leis die Wipfel schauern;
O wonnigliche Frühlingslust
Durchbebt so wundersam die Brust,
Wer wollte stehn und trauern?
