by Friedrich Konrad Müller von der Werra (1823 - 1881)

Ach Gott wie ist das Herz beschwert
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ach Gott, wie ist das Herz beschwert,
geht Eines von uns scheiden,
das nimmer zu uns wiederkehrt;
ach, welch ein bitt'res Leiden!

Und ist's ein Kind, ein liebes Kind,
wie blutet da das Herze!
Wie lang', wie lang' die Nächte sind!
Die Wunde brennt vom Schmerze.

Was will der frische Blumenduft,
es quellen heiße Tränen;
wir sehen eine weite Kluft
vor unser'n Augen gähnen.

Nur Einer ist's, der Tost vermag
in Trübsal uns zu senden:
Nach oben, nach dem lichten Tag
lasst uns die Blicke wenden!
