Hør! landsbyklokken lyder ned,
bebuder aftenfred,
småfuglen, før den går til blund,
end kvidrer lidt en stund;
i mosen kvækker højt en frø,
stærkt damper mark og sø;
nu klokken tier - aftenens fred
sig stille sænker ned.
