by Gáspár Bernát (1810 - 1873)
Translation by Ludwig Aigner (1840 - 1909), as Lajos Abafi

Fischerbursch bin ich im Niederland
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Hungarian (Magyar)
Fischerbursch bin ich im Niederland,
Wohn' in kleiner Hütt' am Tisza-Strand,
Schönes Mädchen, komm' zu mir herein,
Meine Mutter wird dich warten fein.

Schwarze Wolken steh'n am Himmelsrand,
Schwerer Regen tränkt den Pußtensand.
Schönes Kind, durchnäßt dein Tüchlein wird,
Dein schneeweißer Hals dann sicher friert.

All die Wolken schon verzogen sich,
LIeber Jüngling, Gott behüte dich!
Lebe wohl, recht glücklich mögst du sein
Und gedenke auch zuweilen mein!
