by Heinrich Seidel (1842 - 1906)

Der Verräther
Language: German (Deutsch)
Der Mond, das ist ein heimlicher Geselle
Mit seinem naseweissen Licht!
Wie hass' ich dieses bleiche, helle,
Fatale Lauscherangesicht.
Wenn leise ich zum holden Liebchen schleiche,
Ist der Verräther oben wach,
Und immer lauert mir das bleiche,
Verschmitzte Mondenantlitz nach.

Geh' schlafen doch in deine Silberwolke,
Bis ich den holden Gang vollbracht,
Und scheine dann dem anderen Volke
So viel du willst - die ganze Nacht!
