hic me crudeli vulnere fixit amor.
Langueo nec quisquam nostro succurrit amori
quem nequeunt dure frangere jura crucis.
Pungentem capiti Dominum gestare coronam
fortis amor docuit verbera tanta pati.
Felle sitim magni regis satiavit amaro
pectus ut hauriret lancea fecit amor.
De me solus amor potuit perferre triumphum
ille pedes clavis fixit et ille manus.
Si cupis ergo animi mihi signa rependere grati
dilige pro tantis sat mihi solus amor

Love ordered me to come down here from starry Heaven [Olympus],
Here Love struck me with a cruel wound.
I faint, and no-one comes to help my love
Which the laws of the harsh Cross cannot break.
Powerful love taught your Lord to wear the piercing crown on his head,
And to suffer terrible blows.
With bitter gall Love satisfied the thirst of your great King,
And made the lance sink into his side.
Love alone was able to achieve triumph over me,
Love fixed my feet and hands with the nails.
If you therefore desire to pay me back with the signs of a kind heart,
Choose Love above all: Love alone is enough for me.

Tenor
 They grieve for him like an only son,
 Because the innocent Lord has been killed.
