by Otto Julius Bierbaum (1865 - 1910)

Banger Abend
Language: German (Deutsch)
Nacht neigt sich auf die Gassen;
Ich fühl mich so verlassen,
Bin nirgendwo zu Haus.
Die Zimmer warden helle;
Mir winkt hier keine Schwelle,
Ich geh zum kleinen Flusse, der zwischen Wiesen fließt, hinaus.

Sein Fließen ist so leise;
Im weiten Wiesenkreise
Liegt graue Stummheit schwer.
Ich seh mein Leben fließen:
Flach zwischen fahlen Wiesen
Verrinnt es ohne Klingen müd in ein tiefes graues Meer.

Confirmed with Otto Julius Bierbaum, Der neubestelte Irrgarten der Liebe, Leipzig: Insel-Verlag, 1906. Appears in Nachtschatten, pages 82 - 83.
