Novemberabend
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CHI ENG
Novemberabend kühlt und feuchtet.
Die Ferne stirbt in Dämmerduft.
Mit mattem Blinzeln nur durchleuchtet
Ein Stern die nebeltrübe Luft.

Gedämpfte Glockenlaute beben
Weich summend über Stoppelfeld.
Aus Wiesenniederungen heben
Sich dunkle Massen in die Welt.

Ein alter Pflüger mit dem Pferde
Zieht müde heim; die Pfeife glimmt.
Vom Schäferhund umtummelt, schwimmt
Mit Blöken dorfwärts eine Herde.

Mit qualmigdunkler Röte säumt
Der Himmel sich. Großleuchtend taucht
Der Mond empor ... Die Landschaft träumt
Von Ruhesehnsucht überhaucht.

Confirmed with Bruno Wille, Der heilige Hain. Ausgewählte Gedichte, Jena: Eugen Diederichs, 1908, page 62.
