Hoe stille is 't als de donder dreegt, en, al met eens, ontschakeld, gelijk Gods hofhond, belt en bast en door de wolken rakelt! Het water speit en 't vier dooreen, geruchte is 't en gerommel, dat bomt en bamt en wederbelt, gelijk nen wolkentrommel. Het hagelt en de wind ontbindt zijne alderfelste vlagen, en 't is alsof hij kegelspeelde, met tien duist donderslagen!
