'k Zie twee zonnen, elk' heur' weêrga
  tegenvaren, langzaam aan:
de eene rijzen, rechte omhooge,
  de ander' rechte omleege gaan.
 
De eene komt, uit 's hemels blauwten,
  neder in den blauwen schoot
van de Leye, en de andere uit heur'
  blauwe diepten, rond en rood.
 
Gaan ze elkander kussen? Gaan ze
  wijken uit den weg elkaar?
Gaan ze de eene op de ander' vallen,
  die van hier op die van daar?
 
Gaat er ...? Ei! 't is duister schielijk:
  zonne en weêrzonne, even gauw,
zijn gedempt en, zoo de Leye is,
  zijn des hemels diepten grauw.
