Sommer ward es, o wie sonnig!
In der Welt, wie ist's so wonnig!
Trägt die Erd' ihr Feierkleid,
grün ist alles weit und breit.
Mit Gezwitscher und Gejubel
schwingt sich in die Luft die Lerche,
Fichte schwankt und Birke wiegt sich,
auf der Wiese duften Kräuter;
Früchte prangen im Gezweige,
kern'ge und gebräunte Nüsse,
gold'ner Äpfel Lieblichkeit.
Sommer ward es, o wie sonnig!
In der Welt, wie ist's so wonnig!
Grün ist alles weit und breit!
Und im Hause
reifen Küsse,
in der Klause
blüht die Maid.
