by Anna (Nuhn) Ritter (1865 - 1921)

Spätes Glück
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG FRE
Es hat ein Blümchen Tag für Tag
Sich nach dem Licht gereckt,
Die liebe Sonne fand es nicht,
War gar zu tief versteckt.

Erst, als der Sichel blanker Stahl
Die Gräser rings gemäht,
Hat's warm der Sonnenschein geküßt --
War aber viel zu spät!

Confirmed with Anna Ritter, Befreiung. Neue Gedichte, Fünfte Auflage, Stuttgart: J.G. Cotta'sche Buchhandlung Nachfolger, 1900, page 198.
