Zur jungfraulichen Rose.
Sie birgt ihr glühend Angesicht
Im mütterlichen Moose;
Doch hört sie es mit sel'ger Lust,
Hebt langsam sich zur Sonne,
Sie öffnet ihm die treue Brust
Und duftet Lieb' und Wonne.
 
Du süße Ros', du edler Baum,
Mög't glücklich ihr beginnen,
Und möchte, wie ein Kindheitstraum,
Das Leben euch verrinnen!
Oft wird der Töne heil'ge Macht
Den Himmel euch erschließen,
