by Franz Alfred Muth (1839 - 1890)

Mondnacht glitzert in den Bäumen
Language: German (Deutsch)
[Mondnacht]1 glitzert in den Bäumen,
Mondlicht fließt herab wie Schnee,
in den Zweigen rings ist Träumen,
nur am Waldborn [schlürft]2 ein Reh.

Nur die Nachtigall lässt klingen
Sehnsuchtslaut in stiller Nacht,
dass ein wundersames Singen
in der Seele aufgewacht.

Lasst sie schlummern in dem Tale,
träumen Träume dieser Welt;
Komm ins Herz mit lichtem Strahle,
süße Nacht, vom Himmelszelt.
