Meine weise Mutter spricht
Language: English
Our translations:  DUT
Meine weise Mutter spricht:
Küssen, Küssen, Kind! ist Sünde!
Und ich armer Sünder finde,
Doch das Ding so böse nicht.

Mord und Diebstahl, weiß ich wohl,
Ist ein schreckliches Vergehen
Aber, trotz, den will ich sehen,
Der mir das beweisen soll.

Meine Küsse stehl' ich nicht:
Doris gibt von freien Stücken,
Und ich seh's an ihren Blicken,
Daß ihr wenig Leid geschicht.

Oft begiebt es sich, daß wir
Uns, vor Lust, die Lippen beißen:
Aber soll das Morden heißen?
Gott bewahre mich dafür!

Mutter! Mutter! Schmäherei!
Sünd' ist Küssen? Ist es eine;
Nun, ich armer Sünder meine,
Daß sie nicht zu lassen sei!

Mijn wijze moeder zegt
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the English
Mijn wijze moeder zegt:
Kussen, kussen, kind, is zonde!
Maar ik, zondaar, heb gevonden:
Dat te doen is niet zo slecht.

Moord en diefstal, ‘k weet het al,
Zijn verschrikkelijke daden,
Maar een kus? Laat hem dan dagen
Die mij dat bewijzen zal.

Want mijn kussen steel ik niet,
Doris geeft ze zonder kikken
En ik zie het aan haar blikken,
Dat haar weinig leed geschiedt.

Ja, het komt best wel eens voor
Dat een lipje wordt gebeten,
Echter mag dat moorden heten?
God beware mij daarvoor!

Moeder, moeder, lasterpraat!
Kussen zonde? Is ‘t er ene?
Wel, ik, zondaar, zou wel menen
Dat je ’t beter doet dan laat.
