Täglich ging die wunderschöne
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations: ENG ENG ITA
Täglich ging die wunderschöne
Sultanstochter auf und nieder
Um die Abendzeit am Springbrunn,
Wo die weißen Wasser plätschern.
Täglich stand der junge Sklave
Um die Abendzeit am Springbrunn.
Wo die weißen Wasser plätschern;
Täglich ward er bleich und bleicher.
Eines Abends trat die Fürstin
Auf ihn zu mit raschen Worten:
"Deinen Namen will ich wissen,
Deine Heimat, deine Sippschaft!"
Und der Sklave sprach: "Ich heiße
Mohamed, ich bin aus Yemen,
Und mein Stamm sind jene Asra,
Welche sterben, wenn sie lieben."

Daily the wondrously beautiful
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Daily the wondrously beautiful
Sultan’s daughter walks up and down
In the evening at the fountain
Where the white waters purl.
Daily the young slave stood
In the evening at the fountain
Where the white waters purl;
Daily he became pale and paler.
One evening the princess came
Up to him with rapid words:
"I want to know your name,
Your homeland, your kin!"
And the slave said: "I am called
Mohammed, I am from Yemen,
And my tribe is those Asra,
Who die when they love."
