  Zwei feine Stieflein hab ich an 
Mit wunderweichen Söhlchen dran,
Ein Säcklein hab ich hinten auf,
Husch! trippl' ich rasch die Trepp' hinauf;
Und wenn ich in die Stube tret,
Die Kinder beten das Abendgebet,
Von meinem Sand zwei Körnelein
Streu ich auf ihre Äugelein, 
Da schlafen sie die ganze Nacht 
In Gottes und der Englein Wacht.

Den frommen Kindern soll gar schön
Ein froher Traum vorübergehn. 
Nun risch und rasch mit Sack und Stab
Nur wieder jetzt die Trepp' hinab,

Da nicken sie schon und lachen im Traum,
Und öffnete doch mein Säcklein kaum!

Twee fijne laarsjes heb ik aan,
Met wonderzachte zooltjes d'raan,
Een zakje draag ik achterop,
Roetsj, trip ik vlug de trap al op.
En kom ik in de kamer net,
De kind'ren bidden hun avondgebed,
Een beetje zand, twee korrels klein,
Strooi ik zacht op hun oogjes fijn,
Dan slapen zij de hele nacht,
En God en eng'len houden wacht.

Daar lach je al in kinderdroomland.
