Det underliga havet

Sällsamma fiskar glida i djupen, 
okända blommor lysa på stranden; 
jag har sett rött och gult och alla andra färger, - 
men det granna, granna havet är farligast att se, 
det gör en törstig och vaken för väntande äventyr: 
vad som har hänt i sagan, skall hända även mig!

De curieux poissons glissent dans les fonds,
des fleurs inconnues brillent sur la plage ;
j'ai vu du rouge, et du jaune, et toutes les couleurs, --
mais la mer fringante, fringante est la plus dangereuse à regarder,
elle rend assoiffé et éveillé aux aventures à l'affût :
ce qui est arrivé dans les contes de fées m'arrivera aussi !
