Min röda oförskräckthet går ut på äventyr 
i lumpna land. 

Jag har ingenting annat än min lyra under armen, 
mitt hårda strängaspel; 
min hårda lyra klingar för folk och fä 
på öppen väg. 

Jag har ingenting annat än min högburna krona, 
min stigande stolthet. 
Min stigande stolthet tar lyran under armen 
och bugar farväl.

Je n'ai rien d'autre que mon manteau brillant,
que mon intrépidité rouge.
Mon intrépidité rouge part à l'aventure
dans un pays sordide.

Je n'ai rien d'autre que ma lyre sous le bras,
mon difficile instrument ;
ma difficile lyre sonne pour les gens et les bêtes
sur les routes ouvertes.

Je n'ai rien d'autre que ma couronne haut-perchée,
ma fierté croissante.
Ma grande fierté prend la lyre sous le bras
 et s'incline pour un au-revoir.
