Adieu, du schöne Schwester, Ich zieh nach Avignon. Zu Avignon in Frankreich Erwerb' ich Ehr' und Lohn Und, brech' ich eine Lanze, Geschieht's in Deinem Frohn. Und, sterb' ich in dem Kampfe, Bist Du die Schuld davon. Dann sprechen Ehefrauen: Uns liebt' er lange schon. Dann weinen um mich Mädchen Wohl einen Thränenstrom. Dann sprechen Wittwen: ehrendes Begräbniß sey sein Lohn. Wo soll'n wir ihn begraben? Im Sanct Marien-Dom. Mit was den Leib bedecken? Mit Veilchen, Ros' und Mohn.
