Mon père était broc, ma mère cuiller, 
Moi je suis petit bonhomme de troupe ; 
Mon père était broc, ma mère cuiller 
    A soupe. 

J'ai un pied en racine de bruyère 
Un pied rond et sans talon ; 
J'ai un pied en racine de bruyère 
  Et le corps en plomb. 

  J'ai le ventre peint de bleu 
  Et si gonflé que j'ai peur qu'il éclate ;  
  J'ai le ventre peint de bleu 
  Et le derrière peint d'écarlate. 

  Je ne bouge ni prou ni peu 
Et monte la garde dans le buffet ; 
  Je ne bouge ni prou ni peu 
Pour voir ce que dame souris fait. 

Et quand je serai nommé capitaine 
Avec trois galons dorés sur ma manche, 
Et quand je serai nommé capitaine 
J'épouserai quelque jolie poupée de bois : 

Ses dames lui mettront sa robe blanche 
      A longue traîne, 
Et les trompettes sonneront des airs de joie
