Le ruisseau

Coule toujours, charmant ruisseau,
En chantant traverse la plaine.
Le berger sur son chapeau
Ne doit plus chanter que sa peine.

Tu vas passer près du moulin
Où ma tendre Annette demeure ;
Dis-lui combien, j'ai de chagrin
Et qu'en ces lieux, triste, je pleure.

Porte-lui pour moi cette fleur
Que j'ai prise sur ton rivage ;
Dans un baiser j'y mets mon cœur,
Qu'elle l'attache à son corsage.

Mais hélas ! ce qui vient de moi
Pour elle n'aura plus de charme.
L'infidèle a trahi ma foi ;
Ruisseau, porte-lui cette larme !

Charmant ruisseau, coule toujours,
Que ton onde reste limpide
Plus que la source des amours
Qui se trouble et devient perfide.
