Sieh, mein Lager flieht die Ruh. 
Stiller Schlummer deckt die Haine,
Schließt des Städters Auge zu.
Doch der Liebe Kummer 
Hat, mit kalter Hand,

Von mir weggebannt.

Leuchte wieder, wie Lucine
Am entwölkten Himmel lacht!
Schon dein Auge, Wilhelmine,
Scheucht das Grau'n der Mitternacht; 
Und ein einzig Lächeln
Macht die Wüste grün,
Laue Zephyrs fächeln
Und die Rosen blühn.

Lo, rest flees my bed.
Quiet slumber envelops the groves,
Closes the eyes of the city dweller.
But with a cold hand
The suffering of love has 
Banished from me

Shine again, as the moon
Smiles upon the cloudless sky!
You eyes already, Wilhelmina,
Chase away the horrors of midnight;
And a single smile
Makes the desert green,
Warm breezes fan me
And the roses bloom.
