Car le soir, ce soir, m'est venu
Comme un commencement de crise.

La pendule ourle de minutes
Le silence de la maison ;
O soir, quel est donc le poison
Que parmi tes crêpes tu blutes,
Pour que j'aie encor ces rechutes ?

Couchant de cendre refroidie,
Crépuscule d'âme indistinct,
Mal du soir qui si mal m'atteint
Que c'est comme une maladie,
Et rien d'humain n'y remédie.
