by Matthias Jacob Schleiden (1804 - 1881), as Ernst

Wanderlust
Language: German (Deutsch)
Die Wanderlust, die Wanderlust!
Das ist das höchste Glück!
Ich sing' ein Lied aus froher Brust,
denk' vorwärts, nicht zurück.

Was trübe ich dahinten ließ,
es quälet mich nicht mehr;
doch aus dem gold'nen Sonnenschein
lacht hell die Zukunft her.

Und wie ich wand're fort und fort,
ist fröhlich stets mein Sinn;
ich weiß, mich führt ein guter Gott
durch seinen Garten hin.

Die Wanderlust, die Wanderlust
dorch Gottes schöne Welt:
So lang' ich wandern mag und kann,
ist Alles wohlbestellt.
