Ночь тиха, и луна ярким блеском горит
Итальянка одна на балконе сидит.
Ночь тиха, говор волн чудной музыки полн.
И поет соловей там, где роза цветет,
Но звучней и милей итальянка поет.

Вот умолкла она, вдаль сквозь сумрак глядит,
Тихо все, лишь волна сладкозвучно журчит.
Но мелькнул при луне черный плащ в тишине.
Цитры звон, близок он... Кто-то тихо запел,
И с балкона к нему сладкий вздох полетел.

Он поет: «Я люблю!» Она внемлет ему,
Она ручку свою протянула к нему.
Сладко ручку пожать, целовать, целовать!
Сладко негой любви, жар души утолить
И в объятьях любви мир и жизнь позабыть!
