La serenata del marinaro
Language: Italian (Italiano)
Riposa ognuno, e placida
cresce la notte bruna,
splende l'argentea luna,
tacciono i venti e il mar.

Ah! forse il ciglio languido
tu chiudi al sonno, Elvira,
mentre per te sospira
l'afflitto marinar,

mentre dolente e pallido
la sua barchetta ei guida
e il nome tuo confida
al lido, all' aura, al mar.

Elvira, ah! calma i palpiti
d'un mesto cor che geme,
desta la morta speme
in petto al marinar.

Digli: Io veglio, o misero,
ed al tuo crudo affanno
soltanto eco non fanno
le vaste onde del mar;

vedi, furtive lagrime
spargo al tuo mesto canto,
odo il lamento, il pianto
del fido marinar!
